The 2017 Aquinas’ Day Colloquium, organized by the Michael Dempsey Center for Religious and Social Research under the auspices of the Dominican Institute, Ibadan was an intellectually stimulating gathering of learned minds from different fields. Scholars from different tertiary institutions such as the University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and the University of Lagos converged at the Tom and Carolyn Walker Hall of the Dominican Institute, to discuss issues bothering on the central theme of the Colloquium: The Judiciary and the Criminal Justice System: Odds and Ends.
The Colloquium, which was held on January 31, 2017 in honour of the angelic doctor, Thomas Aquinas, whose thoughts the Institute promotes in dialogue with contemporary issues, had Justice Marshall Umukoro, the Chief Judge of Delta State, deliver the keynote address. Several other papers were presented at this event by scholars from different institutions. Yearly, the proceedings of the Aquinas Day Colloquium are published by the Institute. The proceedings of this year’s Aquinas Day Colloquium are to be published soon.
