The fundamental concern is with Man and his complex nature especially his multifaceted relationships with the world around and beyond. It is in this context that we try to investigate and explain those aspects of Man’s nature that particularly concern or challenge him.
The Philosophy programme of the Dominican Institute is a conversational retrieval of the philosophical tradition of Thomas Aquinas within the context of a cultural and academic pluralism that takes African and Nigerian questions seriously.
By a “conversation retrieval” is meant a retrieval of the philosophy of Thomas Aquinas in dialogue with others, especially those with contemporary concerns.
Even in a highly technological world like ours, the human person is ever at pains to understand and offer meaningful explanation about his/her life and existence in the world in which he/she lives and thrives.
But God and Him alone is the only mirror which offers and guarantees the human person a clear sight into himself/herself and his/her existence given that the human person is created in the very image and likeness of God as the Christian Scriptures testify.

Priestly Life and Ministry (PLM) workshop is a programme that draws its inspiration from the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Saint John Paul II, Pastores Dabo Vobis, a document that speaks to the question of the formation of priests in our contemporary context. Observing the interconnectedness of the four areas of priestly formation, namely human formation (the basis of all priestly formation), spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral formations, John Paul II exhorts agents of priestly formation and the candidates for priestly ministry especially to offer heartfelt cooperation to this work of formation (no. 69).
